September was such a great month of football around the league, some fantastic performances and a number of clubs keeping a number of clean sheets. League Awards co-ordinator Peter Stokes has been analysing the nominations and looking at the stats and is in a position to confirm the winners of Goalkeeper of the Month across each of the three Divisions.
Premier Division Goalkeeper of the month is David Parton of
Games Played: 6 – Man of the Match: 2 – Clean Sheets: 2 – Conceded: 8
A great month for David at Congleton whom has been part of the backbone of the sides that hes seen them hover around the top two places in the league, having dropped back as far as sixth at one point. In the clubs nomination they state…. “David won two man of the match awards for the month, the first and last of the six played. At Runcorn Town both goalkeepers excelled in a 2-2 draw that could have been 6-6 but for some excellent saves including one on ones and some bravery at the feet of opponents. At Vauxhall motors, Dave’s heroics earned a clean sheet and a narrow 1-0 win for his team mates. Having sustained some pressure throughout the match, he capped off a first class display with a late save from close range that stunned the home supporters. At Prestwich Heys Dave was again called into action on a number of occasions. The 0-1 defeat resulted from a rare score direct from a corner that went in at the far post just under the bar. During this game, Dave dislocated a finger but refused to go off after having it put back in place. So that meant his second man of the match and a second clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Wythenshawe Town was even more special. A number of good saves were eclipsed by one remarkable reaction save from close range that looked to be a certain goal. The value of the save was enhanced when the Bears grabbed a winner in additional time.”
A strong month for David, many congratulations
