Congleton Town welcome League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra to the Cleric Stadium for a semi-final clash in this year’s Cheshire Senior Cup.
The Bears are two times winners of the competition, getting their hands on the trophy all the way back in 1921 and 1938.
Richard Duffy’s men will have their eyes firmly set on reaching their second cup final of the season after reaching the final of the Macron Cup with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Kendal Town nine days ago.
This will be the tenth time that Congleton Town have reached the semi-final stages of this competition with their last final four appearance coming in the 2003/04 campaign.
This will be Congleton’s penultimate home game of the season with their final league game at the Cleric Stadium scheduled for the 22nd April against Longridge Town.
Congleton Town 3-1 Barnton
Congleton began their Cheshire Senior Cup adventure with a 3-1 victory over Barnton in November. Goals from Richard Duffy, Rocco Fregapane and George Sankey confirmed The Bears’ status in the second round of the competition.
Congleton Town 3-0 Stockport Town
Congleton progressed once more in comfortable fashion with a 3-0 victory over Stockport Town at the turn of the year. A Darren Chadwick penalty and a Tom Pope brace saw The Bears waltz past Stockport Town.
Congleton Town 1-0 Stalybridge Celtic
A win that epitomises the challenge of the Cleric Stadium for opposition sides arose in the quarter-final with Ethan Hartshorn’s second-half strike saw The Bears defeat Northern Premier League side Stalybridge Celtic, to set up a semi-final clash with Crewe.
A reminder that this is a ticketed event and anyone without a ticket won’t be allowed entry.
